When an accident happens
(1) Give aid to any injured people
Immediately call 119 for an ambulance, provide first aid to the injured, and move the rental car to a safe location.
(2) Call the police
Even if the accident is minor, call the police to report the accident. Once the accident report has been filed, please follow the procedures to obtain an accident certificate. (The accident certificate is necessary to use the compensation system.)
(3) Call the emergency contact number
Please call the emergency contact number for the rental car company. Note that if you reach a settlement with the other party, the compensation system cannot be used.
The incident will be treated as an accident regardless of the amount of damage or whether there is another party involved, so please follow the procedures outlined above.
When the car malfunctions
If you notice anything unusual or experience a malfunction/problem, please stop the car in a safe place and contact the car rental company.
