When an accident happens
(1) Give aid to any injured people
Immediately call 119 for an ambulance and provide first aid to the injured. Move the rental car to a safe place.
(2) Call the police
Even if the accident is minor, call the police to report the accident. Once the accident report has been filed, please follow the procedures for obtaining an accident certificate. (The accident certificate is necessary to use the compensation system.)
(3) Call the emergency contact number
Please call the emergency contact number for the rental car operator. Note that if you reach a settlement with the other party, the compensation system cannot be used.
The matter is treated as an accident regardless of the amount of damage or the presence of another party, so please follow the procedures above.
When the car malfunctions
If you notice anything unusual or experience a malfunction/problem, please stop the car in a safe place and contact the car rental company.
